No minister did military service
Not one of the 11 ministers in the current cabinet did military service, which was compulsory for most young men until 1996, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.
Prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende and finance minister Wouter Bos were rejected on health grounds because they had problems with their knees, the paper says.
Last month defence minister Eimert van Middelkoop was at the centre of a row after it emerged that he avoided military service in the 1970s.
