Mayors want action on youth gangs

Home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst will today meet a group of 10 mayors to discuss the problems being caused in their communities by gangs of youths.


A survey by NOS tv shows that mayors in 23 towns and cities want more powers to take action against youths causing a public nuisance. In Gouda, for example, buses have been rerouted to avoid trouble spots.
While there are fewer young men involved in causing trouble than a few years ago, the mayors say a hard core is responsible for escalating trouble, NOS reports.
