Lelystad fire causes huge damage
A major fire at the Batavia dockyard in Lelystad on Monday night destroyed a sail-making factory, several offices and workshops, report various newspapers.
Director Rein Beije says the damage runs into hundreds of thousands of euros.
Among the losses are the sails for the replica VOC ship, the Batavia, which is being reconstructed at the dockyard. The local museum of traditional ships has had to close because of fire damage.
