Icelandic bank lent cash to Dutch firms
Some €240m of the €2bn which Dutch savers invested in Icelandic internet bank Icesave was loaned to Dutch engineering group Stork Food Systems, in Boxmeer, the Volkskrant reports on Friday.
A further €70m went to MCI, a car parts company in Montfoort.
Icesave’s parent company Landsbanki also lent €25m to two Dutch property speculators, details from the land registry office show, the paper says.
Stork Food Systems is owned by Icelandic industrial group Marel.
