Grolsch to cut workforce by 10%

Unions at the Grolsch brewery in Enschede are furious at plans to cut its workforce by 80, around 10% of the workforce.

The company says the job cuts are necessary because of declining beer consumption and rising prices for raw materials.
But the unions say the 10% reduction in the workforce is a much tougher reorganisation than originally suggested when the company was bought by British-South African brewing group SABMiller for €816m at the end of last year.
