Government delays ABN Amro sale

The Dutch government is deliberately delaying the sale of ABN Amro Netherlands by financial services group Fortis because of the insecure situation on the financial markets, reports the NRC.


Finance minister Bos told parliament on Thursday that he wants more clarity about credit crisis related risks for the bank and its potential buyers before the sale – part of the rescue package for Fortis agreed at the weekend – goes ahead.
