Children’s book award won by non-fiction

This year’s top children’s book award, the Gouden Griffel (slate pencil) has been won by Paul Schutten for Kinderen van Amsterdam, the history of the city through the eyes of children.

It is the first time that the prize, first awarded in 1954, has gone to a work of non-fiction.
