Amsterdam stocks down in early trading

The Amsterdam stock exchange opened 6.6% down on Friday morning following massive overnight losses on the US and Asian markets.

Panic trading as soon as the bourse opened resulted in share prices plummeting 8.75% in the first 15 minutes, the Telegraaf reported.
After a half hour delay in establishing the opening prices for Amsterdam’s blue-chip AEX index, trading settled down again. Share prices had recovered somewhat by 10.30am when the index was around 5% down.
The losses on the Dutch bourse was relatively limited compared to falls of over 10% on most other European stock markets. The Vienna market was suspended when losses topped 10% and the Russian exchange failed to open altogether.
