Verdonk denies ties to squatting movement

The controversial MP Rita Verdonk, who is leader of nationalist party TON, has denied that she had close ties to the squatters movement in the 1970s, as claimed by magazine Vrij Nederland last week.


While she had made use of her ‘right to demonstrate’ during the eviction of a squat in Nijmegen, Verdonk says she did not approve of squatting at the time or now.
