Verdonk admits left-wing past
Right-wing MP Rita Verdonk, founder of the new nationalist TON party, applied for membership of the left-wing Pacifist Socialist Party (PSP) in 1978.
Verdonk made the admission on the tv programme Nova on Monday night.
In the past Verdonk has vigorously denied reports that she was a member of the PSP, saying they were ‘absolute nonsense’.
She told Nova she had made a ‘genuine mistake’ in denying the allegations.
