Veluwe becomes Afghanistan for 3 weeks
For the next three weeks the wooded countryside of the Veluwe in Gelderland will be transformed into Afghanistan.
The area is being used for the final military exercise for around 1,400 Dutch soldiers before their departure for Afghanistan.
Several of the towns and villages have been given temporary Afghan names, says ANP news agency. For example Ede will be the town of Tarin Kowt close to Dutch HQ in the southern province of Uruzgan.
