Philips to recall thousands of LCD tvs

Philips is to recall thousands of LCD tvs in Europe because there is a chance they will give users an electric shock, according to Tuesday’s Telegraaf.

The paper quotes information site Tweakers.net as saying the problem concerns several models sold between June and August 2008.
Philips will announce the recall and a special telephone number later this week, the paper says. Anyone with a suspect LCD tv will be told to return it to the shop where they will receive a newer model.
Around 500 of the malfunctioning tvs are believed to have been sold in the Netherlands.
