Philips solar lamp too pricey, says minister

Aid minister Bert Koenders is to talk to electronics concern Philips about the price of its new solar lamp which has been launched on the market in Ghana, says news agency ANP.

Although it is popular in rural areas where there is no mains electricity, at €75 the lamp is too expensive, says Koenders who is on a working visit to the African country.
The lamp was developed as a joint project by Philips and the aid ministry.
