The financial markets regulator AFM has fined specialty food maker Numico €96,000 for failing to tell the market in time about Danone’s takeover bid last year.
The French dairy group was fined €24,000. Both companies are to appeal.
Danone bought Numico last year in a deal worth over €12bn. News of the takeover bid had leaked before it was officially announced.
