John de Mol saves Hammer Films

A consortium led by Dutch tv tycoon John de Mol’s investment company Cyrte has bought legendary horror film studio Hammer Films for an undisclosed sum, Broadcast magazine reports.


The acquisition includes its 295 film library which includes classics starring Christopher Lee.
Production has begun on the first film, The Wake Wood, which is due for release in 2009.
