Hospital chairman sent home

The row over contaminated operating theatres run by the IJseelmeer hospital group has led to its chairman Gersji Rodrigues Pereira being suspended from work, according to various media reports on Friday.

The town council passed a motion of no confidence in the hospital group’s board on Thursday night.
The health inspectorate claims the board had allowed operations to continue for months with the full knowledge that the air in operating theatres at hospitals in Lelystad and Emmeloord was not sterile.
