Fortis eyes ABN Amro insurance arm
Dutch Belgian financial services group Fortis has asked the EU for permission to take over the 51% share in ABN Amro’s insurance company which it does not already own, according to Commission documents.
The majority stake is in the hands of Delta Lloyd which said earlier it wanted €1bn for the shares, the Financieele Dagblad reports.
Fortis inherited 49% of the unit when it took over parts of ABN Amro last year. Talks on the takeover are still ongoing.
