Five hours a year spent on red tape

People spend an average of five hours a year dealing with government red tape, according to new figures from the home affairs ministry.

The ministry says this is an hour less than five years ago and that bureaucracy has become cheaper too – €1bn compared to €1.25bn in 2002.
But the aim is to reduce the time spent on form-filling to four hours in 2011, with an extra saving of €20 per citizen.
