Data bank for ‘problem’ Antilleans given ok

The green light for a data bank containing the details of so-called problem youths from the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba sets a ‘dangerous precedent’, according to the Dutch Caribbean organisation OcaN.

The Council of State ruled this week that the register could be established, overturning lower court rulings.
The data bank was proposed by the former hard-line immigration minister Rita Verdonk.
OcaN is now considering taking the case to the European Court.
