Call for flexible maternity leave

Women should be able to discuss how to arrange their maternity leave directly with their bosses, the head of a government committee on part-time work says in an interview in Monday’s AD.

‘One woman is happy to leave the nappies behind after three months, but others are not yet ready,’ Pia Dijkstra, chairwoman of the Taskforce Deeldtijd Plus tells the paper. Flexible maternity leave would allow women to return to work when ready and help keep them in the labour market, she said.
The committee is spending two years analysing ways of helping women to stay in the workforce.
