Budget: health care costs to rise

The cost of health insurance will go up by tens of euros next year, according to figures leaked by the AD on Wednesday. The rise is due to be announced at next week’s budget presentation.

Every year, the health ministry publishes health insurance cost guidelines which insurance companies generally follow, the AD says.
Because no major changes in the basic provisions are planned, premiums can go up by the rate of inflation, or 3.5%, next year the paper quotes cabinet sources as saying.
A basic health insurance policy costs some €95 a month.
