Ajax keeps Huntelaar despite record bid

Amsterdam football club Ajax turned down two bids for its striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on Monday, the last day of the transfer market, reports the AD. One club offered Ajax a record fee of almost €40m for the player.

‘A last-minute transfer for Huntelaar remains out of the question for us,’ said Ajax’s technical manager Danny Blind. ‘Even a record bid is pointless for the club on the last day because you don’t have the time to get a replacement,’ he told the paper.
