Aid to African financial services increased
The creation of a properly structured and transparent financial services sector is vital in developing countries and the Netherlands is to increase aid to achieve this by €5m to over €63.5m next year, reports ANP news service.
The proposal was sent to parliament on Monday by aid minister Bert Koenders.
Koenders is due to chair a UN conference on new forms of credit and financial services to Africa in New York on Monday. The meeting will also be attended by princess Máxima, a former banker, who is an UN advisor on micro credit.
