Aid money to go on clean energy

A large part of the €500m that aid minister Bert Koenders aims to invest in clean energy over the coming years is to go to countries such as Burundi, Rwanda en Tanzania.


The Netherlands will allocate €140m for hydro power and energy from methane gas in this region, said Koenders in a policy document published on Wednesday.
‘One of the biggest bottlenecks for developing countries is a lack of clean energy and that is a big problem for creating jobs,’ Koenders is quoted as saying by ANP news agency.
The minister has also announced an extra €15m to stimulate Dutch businesses to invest in developing countries. bringing the total to €70m.
