Wild boar hunt: 2,800 killed so far
Some 2,800 wild boar have been killed on the Veluwe heathland region since the opening of the hunting season on July 1, reports news agency ANP.
The Veluwe is home to some 6,000 boar but that number is controversially to be reduced to 800.
Some claim that is the maximum number the area can sustain because of the damage to crops and because the animals cause too many traffic accidents.
