Tenants win 40% of rent protests
Four out of 10 tenants who take their landlord to a tribunal to get their rent reduced or to force through repairs win their cases, according to housing ministry figures.
Tenants who complain about the amount of rent they pay win an average reduction of €80 a month, while those who protest about poor maintenance end up paying €90 less rent a month.
Housing tribunals are independent bodies made up of landlords and tenants representatives.
