Smoking ban encourages 10% to give up
The smoking ban in bars and cafes which was introduced on July 1 has prompted 10% of smokers to give up cigarettes according to a survey by the free newspaper Metro.
Some 16% of those questioned said they go to bars and cafes more often now that they are smoking-free, compared to 11% who said they go out less.
Just 5% of the 700 members of the Metro Life Panel said they don’t go out at all since the ban.
