Randstad operating profit rises 6%

Staffing agency Randstad booked operating profit of €234m in the second quarter of this year, up 6% on the year-earlier period.

The figure does not include Vedior, which Randstad took over in May for €3.2bn. Turnover was up 2% at €4.48bn.
But the company warned of slowing growth in the coming months because of the economic downturn.
CFO Robert-Jan van de Kraats also dismissed rumours that the company might be looking to buy British staffing group Hays. ‘From the management and financial point of view, there is no option even to think about it,’ he told news agency Reuters.
