Minke Smabers, a member of the Dutch hockey team which won gold at the Olympic Games in Beijing, accepted a marriage proposal during the closing ceremony on Sunday.

Baseball player Tjerk Smeets, son of tv commentator Mart, went down on one knee and presented her with an engagement ring, she told Tuesday’s Telegraaf.
