NXP takes steps after dollar’s decline

Chip maker NXP is to take ‘substantial’ measures in order to guarantee the company’s survival, a spokesman told news agency ANP on Monday.


The statement follows an article in Monday’s Financieele Dagblad in which chairman Frans van Houten says jobs will go at the company’s headquarters. NXP booked an operating loss last quarter. One of the problems is that chips are paid for in dollars but produced in euros, ANP says.
