Two in three immigrants coming to the Netherlands in the first half of this year were from Europe, according to the latest figures published by the national statistics office CBS.
In total 30,000 immigrants came to the country in the first six months of 2008, bringing the total population to 16.4 million.
It is the first time in five years that more people came to the country than left, says the CBS.
