More police tasks abroad
Dutch police officers will soon be able to carry out normal policing duties such as house searches and arrests while serving on peace-keeping missions, the AD reports on Friday.
Home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst is to change the rules which ban police officers from active duty, the paper says.
At the moment, police officers are involved in training local forces in Sudan, Kosovo, Bosnia, Cyprus, Serbia and Afghanistan. Around some 30 per year are seconded abroad but this is to be expanded to 100.
