Irausqin funeral attracts 700 mourners
The funeral of fashion designer Percy Irausquin, who died of a brain haemorrhage on August 14, took place on Monday in the San Francisco church in Oranjestad, the capital of Aruba.
Prime minister Nelson Oduber and governor Fredis Refunjol were among the 700 mourners.
The casket containing the remains of the 39-year-old Irausquin was carried over a red carpet scattered with rose petals and the choir sang a specially composed song We will remember, report several newspapers.
Irausquin was one of the Netherlands most sought-after designers. His elegant, feminine gowns are worn by celebrities such as Katja Schuurman and Chantal Janzen.
There will be a memorial service in Amsterdam next month.
