Groningen whirlwind releases asbestos
A whirlwind that swept over three villages in the northern province of Groningen on Sunday has released unknown quantities of asbestos, reports ANP news service.
Asbestos was found in several heavily damaged houses in Lutjegast, Doezum and Sebaldeburen on Monday during the clean-up operation following the whirlwind. The health risk for the area remains unclear, the local authorities told ANP.
Nearly all of the houses in the three villages have been damaged but no-one was injured.
