Fewer churchgoers but more churches
Although the number of people attending church is getting smaller, 281 new churches have been set up in the Netherlands since 1990, most of them evangelical or Pentecostal.
According to researchers at Amsterdam’s VU university, most new places of worship are set up by people between the age of 30 and 39. Half of the new church founders are women.
