Fewer but bigger farms in Holland
The number of agricultural companies dropped by a third to 77,000 between 1995 and 2007, the national statistics office CBS reports on Wednesday.
But the total area of cultivated farmland has not changed – most agricultural companies have grown in size and become less labour-intensive, the CBS reports. An average farm measured 25 hectares in 2007 compared with 17 hectares in 1995.
