DSM closes Chinese factory

Chemicals company DSM is to end production of citric acid in China after being asked to relocate a factory because the land is needed for urban development.


The market for citric acid has been under substantial pressure for several years, mainly due to structural overcapacity in China, DSM said. Therefore, rather than rebuild the plant elsewhere, DSM has decided to concentrate production at Tienen in Belgium.
