Declining ad sales hit Wegener

Regional newspaper group Wegener saw earnings fall 40% to nearly €14m in the first six months of this year, as advertising income came under increased pressure.

Sales rose 3% to €355m. But income from the group’s internet activities rose 20% to €8.8m.
Wegener is 86% in the hands of British media group Mecom.
The company said earlier this month that it wanted to sell its 37% interest in AD Nieuwsmedia back to its joint venture partner PCM.
