Council of State evicts 200,000 chickens

One of the largest battery chicken factories in the Netherlands, home to some 200,000 birds, must close down, the Council of State has ruled, reports news agency ANP.

The plant lost its environmental permit earlier this year because of the smell. Inspectors will pay a visit on Monday and if the chickens are still there the owner will be fined €35,000 a day.
