Arrests after phone call delays plane

Three people have been arrested after a Transavia plane was forced to wait on the runway at Rotterdam airport for five hours after a threatening phone call.

The call, made to the national emergency number 112, said that the plane was at risk of being hijacked, news agency ANP reported, quoting the public prosecution department.
The plane, with 114 passengers on board, should have left for Bodrum in Turkey at 15.20. Instead, they were kept on board for five hours while the claims were investigated.
Three people were arrested and taken off the plane while blindfolded, newspaper Metro reports. One of whom was later released. A 31-year-old man and 28-year-old woman remain in custody.
