Women spend more time driving

Some 40% of car journeys in the Netherlands are not work-related and women are increasingly using cars rather than public transport or bikes, according to research by the government’s social policy unit SCP.


In 1975, women spent 30% of their travelling time in cars, but this had risen to 53% by 2005.
