Wegener given ultimatum over job losses

The journalists union NVJ and staff of Wegener’s seven regional papers say they will take industrial action unless a planned reorganisation involving the loss of up to 465 jobs is not scrapped by noon on Monday.

The employees are considering dropping a day’s production. Wegener’s new owner Mecom wants to streamline the company and increase its return on investment from 13% to 20%.
