Steelworker gets damages for black lung

A steelworker who developed the asbestos-related illness black lung after working with asbestos in the 1970s has been awarded damages, the NRC reports on Tuesday.

It is the first time the FNV trade union has successfully won compensation for black lung, the paper says. The payout, which was not disclosed, was reached out of court. The FNV has 27 more cases pending, the paper says.
