Smoking ban causes few problems

The ban on smoking in bars and restaurants led to few problems this weekend despite warnings from the safety institute that groups of people smoking outside could lead to public order offences.

The Telegraaf reports one incident in the town of Beilen where disco-goers wrecked a bus which the owner had provided so smokers could indulge themselves in comfort.
At the Sensation dance party in Amsterdam, attended by 40,000 people, there were 89 arrests, largely for drugs and illegal ticket sales. Police said the atmosphere at the party was ‘extremely relaxed’.
