Shops oppose, makers welcome candle tax
The retail association RND is totally opposed to European Commission plans to introduce an import tax on cheap candles from China, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.
Some 200 million candles are sold in the Netherlands every year.
However, European candle makers, including market leader Bolsius, support the import tax. The Dutch firm produces one billion tea light candles a year.
