Shareholders wants Fortis probe
Shareholders lobby group VEB is demanding the financial services sector watchdog AFM launch an investigation into recent events at Fortis.
The probe should centre on the possible spread of misleading information in the run-up to the bank’s surprise announcement it was to bolster its financial position by some €8bn.
Three weeks before that announcement, CEO Jean-Paul Votron had said the company’s financial position was sound. Votron resigned on Friday.
