Postal firm TNT books fall in Q2 profits

Shares in post and express delivery firm TNT fell 9% on the Amsterdam stock exchange on Monday morning following news that the company’s net profit for the second quarter fell to €205m from €244m in the same period last year, reports ANP news service.

The poorer than expected result was largely due to the uncertain economic climate and higher fuel costs, said ANP.
TNT reported turnover in the second quarter of the current year rose to €2.8bn from €2.7bn in the same 2007 period. The company said it expects to meet the full-year forecast issued last year.
