Most Dutch jailed abroad are in for drugs
There were 2,194 Dutch nationals in foreign jails last year, of whom 80% were held for drugs offences, news agency ANP reports.
The total number of prisoners is high compared with the UK, Germany and France, possibly because the Netherlands good transport links are often used by drugs smugglers, according to justice ministry researchers.
