Karadzic to appeal extradition to Holland
Luka Karadzic, the brother of Serbian war crimes suspect Radovan Karadzic, on Sunday confirmed that an appeal against the latter’s extradition to the Yugoslavia war crimes tribunal in The Hague was signed on Friday evening, reports ANP news service.
Luka Karadzic made the announcement after visiting his brother in prison in Begrade.
Serbian justice authorities are expected to process the appeal on Monday and could make a decision within hours, reports ANP.
If the appeal is rejected, as is widely expected, Karadzic could be on his way to The Hague on Monday, says ANP.
But according to the BBC, he is unlikely to be transferred to The Hague until Wednesday at the earliest. The judges have a maximum of three days to consider the appeal.
Radovan Karadzic faces charges of genocide in connection with the Bosnian war in the early 1990s. He was arrested in Belgrade last week after nearly 13 years as a fugitive.
