Eleven companies operating in Rotterdam port, including Akzo Nobel and Vopak, have been given the green light to destroy eggs laid by gulls too close to their operations.

The Council of State gave the go-ahead because staff are being attacked.
‘If you are 23 metres up on the edge of a tank, you don’t want to lose your balance being swooped on by a gull,’ said Andre Holt of the Maasvlakte oil terminal.
